Thank you for your donations. You are giving Shelby a leg to stand on!

On January 30th, Shelby had surgery to repair his dislocated ankle fracture. Even though his fundraiser was shy of the total needed, we took the leap of faith that we will get there and moved forward with the surgery. We have now collected the total amount needed for Shelby's surgery.

The surgery went very well and his bones are now realigned. We want to thank Dr. Bentley and her team at Cornell Veterinary Specialists. When we visited, we could see that he is being well cared for. The next phase of his recovery is a two-month period of confinement while his leg heals.

Background: Shelby is a 5-year-old cat who spent most of his life outdoors as a homeless stray. He is also a three-legged cat, missing part of his right hind leg. Sadly a few months ago, he also broke he right front leg and it healed wrong. As a result, he only had two good legs. Because he is missing his right hind leg, he was forced to use the painful, injured front leg to get around. He also had difficulty using the litter box and grooming himself.

Meet Lilac, a beautiful two-year old dilute calico that came to us from Stamford Animal Control because they could not touch her. She was initially terrified and we have been patiently working with her to get her comfortable with people and touch. Today, she is a joyful cat that loves to play, purr, and interact with the volunteer team and other respectful cats.

Lilac greets you with a heart-melting little chirp and loves pets. She is also very treat motivated and trainable. She is still a work-in-progress and will require a patient and experienced adopter with a quiet home. However, we are very confident she will make a great companion.

If you would like to meet her, please click here to submit an adoption application.
